Eighteen months ago, 10 public libraries were selected to take part in an experimental community engagement training with ALA and The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. This group, known as the Libraries Transforming Communities Public Innovators Cohort www.ala.org/transforminglibraries/libraries-transforming-communities/cohort, has been working ever since to (1) learn new techniques for engaging their communities and (2) to use them to help bring people together and spark positive change in their own cities and towns.

As we near the end of this exciting project, three of the participating libraries will share what they learned and how it has helped them serve their communities in new ways. Please join us for this free, 60-minute introduction to the “turning outward” approach, led by three library folks who have been living and breathing it for the past 1-1/2 years.

Please see below for more details and a registration link. Happy to answer questions, and thanks! (Please note: all materials referenced in this webinar are free and available at www.ala.org/LTC
